Coming This Fall to FBC: The Alpha Course
Sunday Evenings 6:00 to 8:00
The Alpha Course is a fourteen session program which runs over 8 Sundays and a Saturday retreat to provide a practical introduction to the Christian faith. It offers the opportunity to explore the meaning of life in the Christian context. The format involves a meal, video presentation, small group discussion and follow up.
Some of the topics covered are: Christianity: Boring, Untrue and Irrelevant? How Can I Be Sure of My Faith? Why and How Should I Read the Bible? Why and How Do I Pray? How Does God Guide Us? Why and How Should We Tell Others? Does God Heal Today? How Can I Make the Most of the Rest of My Life?
Who can participate? Anyone! Including: new Christians, newcomers to the church, those who want to brush up on the basics, people who have been a Christian most of their lives; those who want to develop a closer relationship with God, and those who are just exploring the Christian faith.
This setting is perfectly safe in that no one’s ideas or perspective will be criticized, questions are encouraged, no Bible or knowledge of religion is necessary. The outcome is designed for participants to experience support from the group, learn something about themselves and the Christian faith and make some new friends.
Quality childcare will be provided for children through elementary school and Alpha for teenagers will be offered at the same time for middle school and high school students. Cost is $10.00 per person and includes all materials. Children participate for free. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. for all and there is a recommended donation of $5.00 per individual and $20 max per family. Sign up by phone or email through the church office or register online by clicking here. Invite your friends, family and neighbors!
